Wow, it's been forever since I've updated!!!! Don't ya hate it when
that happens? Well, a lot has happened in the past three weeks or so.
Where to begin?
Okay, let's start with Jeremy's visit.
So, he arrived March 22 (a Tuesday) and Mike and I picked him up at
the airport and I actually recognized him, which is a good thing. I
was really worried that I wouldn't know him when I saw him, but I
did. Well, he actually recognized me first, but details, details.
Anyway, we got his luggage and went to my house, where we had some
dinner and played Dance Dance Revolution (he actually tried it!! He was
getting pretty good by the time he left, too) and went to bed. The next
day, I had class at 11am, so he came with me to my Rhetoric and Writing
class, where we critiqued by paper on The Fifth Element, and then had
lunch from Pita Pit. At that point I had to go to my dreaded Mammalogy
classso I passed him off to Mike, who volunteered to entertain him
until I got out of class. While I went to class, they walked down to
Effin's Pub, which was closed, so they settled for Louie's Pub on campus
andhad a few rounds until I got out of class. I got out of class and
wewent to my house, where we had dinner with everyone, and mean
EVERYONE!My brothers, Mike, Jeremy, my mom, her friend Trisha, and
Trisha'sdaughter Christy. It was a good time. The
next day, we attended Kiwanis breakfast and went to Sea World!! Up to
this point, things had been pretty awkward between Jeremy and myself. I
mean, we had met fleetingly at ICON, and then only managed to exchange
letters and chat every once in awhile from July to present. It was the
trip to Sea World that loosened us up. We had a great time there.
Granted, it wasn't the prettiest day in San Diego because it was raining
on and off and was a little cold, but we both put on bright yellow
ponchos and made the best of it. :) At the end of the day, we both
decided to get really wet and went on the water rapids ride they have
there . . .twice . . . in ponchos . . . and still got pretty soaked.
So, we hobbled over to the car, turned on the heat and headed home for
warm showers. And then I fell asleep on the couch, as usual.
Friday was a beautiful day for the beach, so we
headed over to Coronado and layed around, watched a gaggle of really
cute little kids, played frisbee, and attempted to go in the ocean.
Well, he went in like it was nothing (he's from Maine, btw) and I could
only make it in to stomach-deep water. WAAAAAY too cold for Kelly. :) We
had to leave early because I had to give a tour at SDSU, which went
well, and then we stopped at the Farmer's Market to pick up flowers for
my mother because it was her 50TH BIRTHDAY!!! :) We had a fabulous
birthday dinner and then Jeremy and I headed out to the National Comedy
Theater and laughed really hard. :) It was a great last night for
Jeremy, I think. I was SO sad to see him leave the
next day.Actually, I left first because I was going to Alamosa. We
spent our last couple of hours together at the airport and just talked
aboutlife. It only took five days for me to
fall for him, which I think has to be a record. I've never met any guy
like him, and I wonder if I ever will. He has this amazing knack of
bringing me from the depths of a bad mood into an emotional high . .
.just over the phone! He's so gentle and sweet and intelligent and
intuitive and all around . . . wonderful. Funny, because he actually
felt the same way about me . . . but both of us knew that we couldn't
let this go too far because he was going back to Iraq for the better
part of a year, so we just decided to be rational about it and not let
our emotions get the better of us. But, that didn't work, and I'm glad.
So now, I guess you could say we're together. I'm doing my best to be
true to him, and he's pretty much doing the same, even though we know
that it doesn't make ANY rational sense, we're going to see what comes
of it. :) He's putting in a request to transfer to Fort Irwin,
California, so that when he comes back to the US, he'll be closer to me.
I really hope if he's closer than Maine. Anyway, I'm completely blinded by
love for this guy that I've really only known for five days and a few
hours. Seems silly, doesn't it? But who cares? I don't.
:)
After Jeremy's visit, I went to visit Priscilla
in Alamosa, Colorado, for Spring break, which was so much fun . . .
butI'm going to have to finish it some other time, because I actually
havestuff to do. :) Sorry! More next time!
