2nd week: music & reflections

Mar 09, 2009 15:26

the reason that i have posted so late my 2nd journal entry is due to the fact that i had no idea of what to write. every time i thought i had an idea, i was unsure of whether i should write it down and before i knew, the idea had disappeared from my mind, and i was left with nothing. so why did i choose to focus on music? it is quite random. but i didn't intend to focus on this topic. instead, i was stuck for ideas and decided to listen to some of my favourite songs in order to help my mind focus on an idea that i liked.

and then i heard it. "and i'd give up forever to touch you, cause i know that you'd feel me somehow. you're the closest to heaven that i'll ever be, and i don't want to go home right now. and all i can taste is this moment, and all i can breathe is your life...." (iris, the goo goo dolls). this song may have no particular significance for anyone else, but in listening to this song i was able to actually think of something to write. this song is featured in one of my favourite movies, city of angels, which features nicholas cage and meg ryan. anyway, i'm kind of going off the subject now!

so, after i heard this song i was left reflecting on the power that this song had in allowing my thoughts to flow. and i thought, is all music capable of this? do other people find music to be an outlet for their thoughts and feelings? i know that i personally find music affecting my mood.

anyway that was my ramble for week 2!

week 2 comment:

i found this story pretty funny shannon! but i have to agree with what you wrote. the behaviour of teenage girls towards a fictional character who is in fact a vampire is to be questioned. the selling of t-shirts at shops like supre that contain slogans such as " i <3 edward" and "i kissed a vampire and i liked it" encourage this behaviour. in fact in the space of one minute i saw 3 different girls wearing the EXACT same "i <3 edward" t-shirt. i do, however, really like twilight, but i don't think i would put my face in a cream pie for it.
and the green character i think you are talking about is salad fingers!
