Ha. I'm loving how they try to suggest appropriate titles before I've even entered anything.

Whoops, it's been a while.

First: RockstarBaby is adorable, and doing just fine, thank you for asking (and I know you will because I'm just that psychic). For those who haven't had a chance to see, photos of RockstarBaby are available hereIt's a bit trite to say that having a baby is transformative -- I mean, it's one of those perfectly obvious ( Read more... )

Your totally right about baby transformation being awesome, and like so many things, different for every mom/ pregnancy. For instance for me having Josh brings me out so I interact more with people I'd otherwise just be passing by.

I think it is important to emphasis the hard aspect of new parenting to teenagers and young adults, because it really is a lot of work, and I can't think of a better way to encourage kids to think before they leap. But it is equally important and valid to emphasis the joys of parenting, and I agree that isn't done enough. I think it might be a generational thing. We got most of that kind of focus from church.

Yeah, the number of people who approach us, now that we have a baby as an excuse for them to reach out, is kind of interesting. Nice, but really surprising.

I just think there ought to be a better middle ground. I'm huge on letting people make informed decisions, but it feels like with childrearing, we leave a huge piece of information out of the decision-making process, which is the fact that having kids is a lot of fun. And don't you think the narrative should shift, depending on whether you're talking to teenagers or established adults? I mean, why are we limiting our narrative about having children to the lowest common denominator?

I'm glad that you and your hubby and the adorable Rockstar Baby are doing well!

As for the Davis LARP, some people can be *colorful-and-imaginative-words* and you don't deserve that.
Taking time away from that is a good thing. I'm glad that you're putting your foot down. Good for you! ^_^
