LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
the Scales of Justice. Cardinal, air, yang - planetary ruler: Venus. Keywords: "I BALANCE"

Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac and governs the kidneys, lower back, and buttocks. Positive traits include a rational, logical mind, a fine sense of aesthetics, diplomatic aplomb, good taste, charm, skill with words, intelligence, an innate sense of fairness and justice, and exceptional beauty. Negative characteristics include indecisiveness, excessive dependence on other people, conformist tendencies, manic depression, extravagance, and manipulation.

While this particular set of libra-isms is not quite like most I've read, I tell people often that I am most definitely a quintessential libra. I think things to a fault. I can have entire conversations with people in my mind, filling their mouths with words they didn't say, fretting, and making myself sick with worry. I get paranoid that I'm going to make a poor decision. My husband and I have actually fought before because he says, "what do you want for dinner" and I say, "I dunno, what do you want.". To which he politely replies, "No, babe, whatever you want, just pick it. ". After which, I practically start hyperventilating saying, "baby, I don't know, I don't care, please pick, we could eat anything you want, whatever, chinese, mexican, italian, burgers, thai (mmm, thai), anything at all, just please don't make me pick, I HATE IT!"

Yea, I'm lucky.

Anyway, I think things through like a maniac, have obsessive compulsive tendencies. I am extremely outgoing and cheerful. You'll probably never see me without a smile on my face. I love people, and interacting with them. I am the advice giver to all my friends, a good listener.

I have perhaps strayed a bit from the question, but all that to say that I am absolutely, positively 100% libra. I've never read anything about any other sign that even remotely sounded anything like me.

ahem. moving on, shall we?

Hufflepuff
Libras sorted into House Hufflepuff are some of the sweetest, most charming individuals you will ever meet. They work hard at their studies compared to other Libras (most Libras would rather coast on their strengths than apply themselves to all their subjects) and are often quite successful. Physically, however, they remain unathletic and lazy - the closest they'll ever get to a Quidditch match is the spectator's box, and that only if the weather is pleasant. Anything beautiful and harmonious appeals to the Hufflepuff Libra. Since potions and alchemy require an instinctive awareness of the harmony of ingredients, Hufflepuffs who are Libras display a surprising facility in these subjects. These wizards live to help other people, and to help their friends get along with each other; nothing hurts them more than to see people in distress or bickering with each other. Feuds and wars between wizards distress them. Equally distressing is the disharmony between Muggles and magic users. Many Hufflepuff Libras become Muggle specialists, hoping to bridge the gap between magical and non-magical.

haha. spot on.

1. I work hard on studies? kinda. I am starting grad school this fall, and I will be working quite hard on those studies, but don't know that I worked particularly hard on my undergraduate work... high school in particular was quite easy for me. I definately coasted there.

2. I am definately unathletic. lol. I just started about 2 weeks ago, being pretty hardcore into fitness, but truth be told, I've been a bit of a fatty most of my adult life... I'm just not even remotely interested in athleticism, but I am trying to be healthy, so I did turn over a new leaf a few months ago, and have (thankyouverymuch) been doing a good job staying on track!

3. In my hat sorting app, I said potions... interesting...

4. As previously stated, I do indeed LIVE to help my friends. And as it states, I definately do hate confrontation, and conflict. Though I'll fight like a junkyard dog if you jack with me or the ones I love. I am not afraid of it. I just don't like it.

4. How important are your friends? How about your family?

This might sound a bit strange, but other than my husband, cat, mom, and brother (keeping in mind that I have a VERY large family by comparison) I'd probably say that I generally am more concerned with/interested in the goings on of my friends. I love my family dearly, I just tend to only get deeply involved with those outside of the core, listed above only a few times throughout the year.

5. Describe your best/strongest personality traits:

I am an incredibly positive person. I am smiley and confident. I am empathetic and compassionate. I feel your pain, and try to reach those who have been discarded or overlooked. (which is why I love my job)

6. Describe your worst/weakest personality traits:

I get very involved, and often put my own emotional well being at risk. I let myself get very close to people, and often that leads to my getting hurt. I can be a drama queen. I can be manipulative.

7. What are some issues that are important to you?

I assume you mean social issues. So, you asked for it.

I am quite opposed to the current war in Iraq. I do not believe that our president is working for our country's best interest, but I do support our troops whole heartedly.

I work to educate people on being tolerant, and accepting people with disabilities. I strive to create a society where they can be treated with dignity and respect. I am very aware of the prejudices most people carry around for those who are different.

I am grounded in the fight for equal civil rights. Despite our different languages, races, sexual orientations, and beliefs, I firmly believe that we should all have the right to chose our own paths, and express our true purposes... providing we do not harm or hinder anyone else on our quest.

8. What spell would you want to master the most?

hrmmmm. I guess I would like to know how to apparate. I am extremely anal puctual, and would love to be where I'm going at the flip of a switch.

9. If you could have a dinner date with a Harry Potter character who would it be and why?

duh, Ron. Cause I luff him.

Does that count? Cause I don't know that I have a non-fangirl answer. :D

10. What kind of weather do you prefer? What season do you prefer? Why?

I prefer autumn, cause of the mild weather, and the beautiful colors. I think that its just about the most gorgeous time of the year.

I like all types of weather. Except cold. I love the rain, I'd go dance and run around in the rain anytime. I love sleeping through storms, and I love running about when its nice and hot too.

11. Out of the 7 deadly sins (Wrath, Gluttony, Envy, Pride, Greed, Lust, Sloth) which do you feel you are most guilty? Explain!

Well, I'm definately not an angry person. I've DEFINATELY been gluttonous before, (ladies-chocolate time of the month? anyone?), I'm very content, and therefore, not very envious of anyone really. I'm not proud or greedy. I can be a cougar with the rest of em, but I think married women are allowed to lust for their husbands. :D And I'm a high school teacher, so in the summer, I'm TOTALLY committing sloth!! :D

12. What else do you read aside from Harry Potter?

I read books regarding my work. Lots of books about emotional and behavioral disorders in teens, specifically.

13. What are somethings you do in your free time, hobbies, etc?

I work on my house, I have a great home, and I'm always trying to make it home-y.
Here is a picture of my latest project!!
I tissue papered the walls of our guest room:

14. If you could have two superpowers what would it be and why?

hmmmm, two?

I'd definately be able to fly. Absolutely.

And, dangerous as it seems, I'd want to be able to read people's minds. That way, when they ask me what I want for dinner, I can see what THEY actually want, and save myself the anxiety!! :D

15. What do you value most in life?

My husband, my cat, my house. Then, my wonderful job. (I have the best job) Then all my other family and friends.

16. Name a few things that you utterly despise or that annoys you:

People who act too cool, or are otherwise unfriendly. Biting the wood in a popsicle. (might as well be DEATH) Having wet hair.

17. What would you put on your "Things to do before death" list? Why?

Go to europe, get my masters (and maybe doctorate), have a 20th wedding anniversary with my man, live within an hour of Sedona.

18. Sing us a lyric:

:D

Baby come back. Any kinda fool could see,
There was somethin' in everything about you.
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me,
I was wrong... and I just can't live without you.

haha. thats my jam. lol.

19. Name one thing you think is beautiful:

The sunset.
