You did a great job summarising this article. I found it a bit difficult to read and you brought up some points I forgot about. For your question, though I am not very knowledgeable with the reasonings to start wars, I never think there is ever a "good" reason for these suicide bombings, even if it is for ritual reasons, as Tanaka states how they ritualize killing to make it "psychologically easier".
