Happy Halloween!

After a day or so of feeling sorry for myself, then finishing my sucky class and the celebration that followed (re: I got drunk last night), I have been thinking about what to do while I'm jobless.  So much of my self-worth is/has always been wrapped up in my career, so sometimes I have a hard time separating who I am with a job and just me.

So.  ( Read more... )

Good for you for exploring the city. I find that it's so easy to take the city you live in for granted and not explore it like a tourist. I lived in SF for 17 years and never even went to Coit Tower!
Poor Dakota. I'd like to say that maybe the puking taught him a lesson but if dogs are anything like cats, that'd be unlikely.
Good luck with the volunteering!

I doubt it taught him a lesson. He's all about eating any food he can get his grubby paws on.

With all your tomatoes, you could make homemade tomato sauce and just freeze it. You'll have yummy sauce all winter.

Dakota is hilarious!

Great ideas for keeping yourself busy while you're not working. That will keep you much happier. :)

I'll probably end up making sauce, because that is easiest.

Hey you. Sorry about the job situation. I totally know how sucky it is and I totally know what you mean when you say you define yourself by your career. I am the same way so being unemployed was totally tragic for me. But look where it got me! I am sure that your eventual job will be totally worth the wait!

I think that volunteering is a great idea! I also think I should learn about my city more. They even have these classes on the history of the city at the library...

Dry some tomatoes and make sauce with others. I am pretty sure you can dry in the oven.

Yeah, I just wish the economy were better here. It's not BAD, but it's not what I have been used to elsewhere.

Mmm! All that food sounds so appetizing. I love sauces, as you know. Ha! I would love to try the pistachio cheesecake, sounds so yummy.

I'm glad you're making a plan to keep yourself busy in the meanwhile by getting to know your city. That's a really good idea! I should do that myself.

As far as the tomatoes, have you thought of making a batch or two of some homemade spaghetti sauce? You could always freeze it for later use. You could even make your own tomato sauce for multi-purposes like the spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, tomato soup, enchilada sauce, etc. You could always also, just freeze the tomatoes or even can them. If you're cheesy, you could also buy little cute baskets and give some away as a present. I'm a fan of food gifts, even something like a basket of tomatoes. Hee!

The pistachio cheesecake was awesome; it had mango and pomagranite on top. Yum!
