Choices in Life

Isn't life strange?  Isn't it great?  And now I've got "Send In The Clowns" totally stuck in my head.  I've just seen a number of people's lives change (mostly via Facebook or other social stalking sites) and stopped to wonder sometimes about the path I've chosen over the years.  Specifically the opportunities I've passed on to pursue other things ( Read more... )

I'd love to meet the person who's life turned out just as they planned it.. and step on their foot.

Maybe that's a bit vindictive.

But I don't think they exist, anyhow.

I've made a few large life decisions, and I don't feel any more sure of my future or more adult than I did a couple years ago. Of course most people view getting married as a much bigger change than I do seeing as it doesn't seem to be changing anything in my life, realistically. O.o

See, and you're one of those people who's lives I've seen change! Congrats again on the marriage, you guys are awesome together. And I know it doesn't seem big to you, but it's a statement of intent that the whole world has to listen to. More power to you!

Ha ha thanks. I guess it is, and I got nervous enough about it the day of, but after it was all said & done, I think you're right, its mainly because its a statement that people have to listen to. "Hey, this is my husband" is a lot different than "hey, this is my boyfriend" or fiance even. But I'm def not where I thought I would be. I though I might be in my final years of college, hopefully on the west coast already, and sure of what I wanted. I kind of am, but at the same time I'm pretty unsure a lot of the time. I guess its pretty awesome to know dating isn't even an issue anymore tho, I don't have to worry about trying to impress a potential mate, I have one! XD

No matter how different your "would be" and "reality" are, there are a few central things that are common between the two:
--You are doing well at work. and enjoying it. The career path is different, yes, but you love it.

--You have someone in your life that you also love. and 2 cats. (the vet has to vouch for the pets!!)

--You have friends in your life.

Believe me...when I was 18, I thought I would be going to vet school at WSU. I never expected to live in the caribbean for 3 years, but I am much happier with that path than if I had stayed in Washington...even if I had to go thru the shit with roommates.

And I NEVER expected to marry an Okie! ;-)
