MITGSP's Sweeney Todd: a success

I got home a while ago from the final performance of mitgsp's production of Sweeney Todd. (Yeah, it's not G&S, but hey, we weren't doing anything else over the summer....) This was an excellent production -- from what I saw and heard of it while managing the house ( Read more... )

It was a really good show - nearly professional quality...which is kind of to be expected when most of the cast and prod staff are ringers. There were...two current students in the cast? Neither of which were leads? But it is summertime, so maybe the students are away. Still, no matter how good the show is, it still irks me a bit to know that MITGSP is technically a "student group" when there are hardly any students in it ( ... )

mrmorse said the same thing about the lights in the oven. Bromberg said they should've been brighter. Whatever.

Lots of folks tried the slide after the show, although no one was allowed to try the barber chair (it being rented and somewhat delicate).

The teenytiny guest star is six years old. She's the daughter of one of the Judge's co-workers, and her parents stayed in the greenroom with her every moment she wasn't onstage. We're pretty sure she had little to no idea what was going on, either onstage or among the cast hanging out in the greenroom, which is just as well considering her age. You are quite right, we probably could've used a 'This play contains sequences which may not be appropriate for younger viewers' disclaimer somewhere, but I don't know if we got any complaints about it.

Yay for no scars/RSI from strike. I'm sorry I missed it, I was sort of busy trying to walk without running into walls. :(
