The illness began with a stuck trackball. By the end my baby was unresponsive to all outside stimuli.  I did the only merciful thing and pulled the battery: tomorrow we're going to the Verizon store for last rites and a replacement.  In the meantime I feel like I've been disconnected from the Borg...
