I found you off halcyon's lj.
When my (ex)boyfriend's sister was molested by his mother's boyfriend's father (hard to follow, i'm sorry) REPEATEDLY, and for a LENGTH OF TIME, he was given a fine of $500 and 2 weeks in jail.
It hardly seemed fair that a man in his 60's ruining a six year old girl's life's only punishment was a slap on the wrist of two weeks in a different residance and a small fine.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, this world has been way too sad for far too long.

The incidents happened over a 6 month time period. We don't know how often, but they were spending the night with this man. He was babysitting them, taking them fishing, on walks...

He was a previously convicted child molester who failed to register as a sex offender. He lived in an RV at his mom's house. His family knew about his previous conviction, and they allowed him to have little boys spend the night...

Thank you for your comment

The "justice" system is fucked up. That's all there is to it.

To be honest, being a juror in this case makes me feel better about the justice system. This man, whatever the circumstances, was given a fair trial. More than fair, in my eyes.

It just tore my faith in humanity as a whole.

I want to believe in the inherent goodness of people in general...this really hurts that...

i found teh same thing - that being a juror made me like the system more.

But it doesn't make me feel any better about the people for whom the criminal system is made for. (HUG)

Don't feel bad for this man. There is no reason that you should feel guilty or sad about him being punished.
Him saying that you just killed him was probably just him being mad that he wouldn't be able to get away with his sick and wrong sexual behaviors any more. It's too bad the five-year-old boy was unable to speak in court. Good that he didn't have to go through that nervousness and all the other effects of facing his predator, but unfortunate in terms of justice, because I strongly suspect that Davis was also guilty of those charges.

i agree with this.
you did nothing wrong. you said he got a fair trial. you said he was guilty. you did the right thing.

I know, I just feel like I pulled the trigger for my country, you know?

I never asked to be a judge.

I'll get over it, I know, life moves on. It'll just take me some time, I'm sure

I did my duty. Was it good? *shrug* that's not for me to judge.

I'll sleep well again, it'll just take some time.

For now I'm depressed and it makes me hella tired, which is better, I suppose, than staying awake thinking about this all the time...
