Brigits_Flame May 03 Entry - Nothing to Lose

I decided to do this as a movie trailer - much like my musical entry from March, there isn't much of an effect if you don't hear it.  Anyway, enjoy!

Melvin Johanssen was a perfectly normal accountant.  He lived a comfortable existence, in his little apartment, with his cat, Virginia, and his stamp ( Read more... )

I did! I did do all the voices myself. The music comes from David Shire's score for the 1974 movie "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three".

Haha, sure, I'll take edits, Dani. DO YOUR WORST.

I would actually like to clarify something that I neglected to expand upon in the heat of a praise-consumed moment of foggy-headed ridiculosity. Yes... I know that's not a word. XD

Maybe, if we consider the possibility that an audio aid was not an option, you could have improved your delivery by finding some way to emphasize, in print, that Melvin talks like your typical four-eyes nerd.

By this statement, I meant to point out that Horrifikov is given a definite way of speaking. I can hear plainly in my head, even without the aid of the recording, that he has a heavy (and quite comical) accent. It would have made this little yarn much funnier (by way of being more, er, 'resonating'?) if Melvin had been given the same assistance. Other than that, I saw no reason to rape your humor. :-)

Heya! I've been finding it's easier just to do my edit as a hosted web page on the Flame's site. Yours is here:

Ooo! Thanks, JB!

To answer various queries and confusions:

Horrifikov ... uh. I think Wasabi is his, like, catchphrase. Like, okay. in the rocky and bullwinkle cartoons, Boris Badenov says "Raskolnikov!" when he is thwarted. I'm just.. being silly. It really means nothing. Except that wasabi is spicy! and being thwarted is painful, like eating too much wasabi.

Philately is the, um. It's.. well, it's stamp-collecting. But I always thought it sounded kinda naughty. Philatelist is the proper term, but PHILATELATOR sounded so much better.

I hope that cleared up that.

I will admit, however, that this piece is not as tightly formatted as it should be. I'm not really sure what motivated me to write it up so incorrectly? but rest assured that future scripts will look, well. More scripty.

Love!

The one about the fillings being fresh was a bit flat, but on the whole it was very funny. It doesn't compare to Dr. Tran, but I'm sure you know that.
