Heiji's steps followed a semi-familiar path through the Beika park. The sun wasn't quite down yet, throwing the sky into a brilliant array of colors, but it was still fairly late for him to be out

Shinichi had been pleasantly shocked out of his mind when Haibara agreed to give him another antidote and made a mental note to be on his guard around her for a long time to come.
He figured, while he was in his true form he may as well investigate a few things and maybe pick up a new mystery book. Though, admittedly, he was a little more then on edge walking out in the open with no real reason to be Shinichi.
He found he was slightly more paranoid and winced every time someone flipped open a cell phone. He sighed in annoyance and pulled himself out of the bushes.
Really, he thought privately to himself. This is just getting ridicules. He brushed a few leaves off and headed in the direction of the park. The newspaper had something about a murder case happening there few night ago and he wanted a look.
As neared the area he recognized the back of Hattori Heiji's head. Why he recognized the back of his head he didn't know, nor did he think on.
"Oi! Hattori!" He called out, heading towards his best friend.
Heiji jumped, his face turning red as the very person he was thinking about came up the path.
Which, was very surprising since Kudo wasn't supposed to be Kudo right now. "K-Kudo..." He shuffled his feet and dropped his gaze, realizing he probably looked stupid but didn't have a clue what to do about it.
Shinichi offered a smile and looked around the small park with a shrug. The air was bit chilled but nothing too bad.
"Yeah, Haibara was nice enough to give me an antidote." He stated, voice down low. "So what brings you to Beika? I don't recall you mentioning you would be coming for a visit."
"A-ah, well, yeah." He fell silent for a moment before realizing that he hadn't even answered the question; his face heating up. "I-I mean, Hakuba picked up this little guy the other day and asked if I would take care of 'im. Poor thing didn't have anyone." He gestured to the carrier. "I w-was gonna call and ask if maybe I-" Could stay with you for the night. That sounded worse now that Kudo was himself.
He vaguely remembered them talking while he was in the hospital, but he was half drugged at the time. Maybe he had dreamed it.
He cared about the other detective, a lot. He figured he could admit it now that he had such a close brush with death, but maybe he hadn't said anything to Kudo after all. It certainly looked that way.
"-m-maybe I-" Damn, what was wrong with his throat?
