tl;dr version.

Holden started school and is doing well. Roxie turned 1 and we had a nice birthday party for her. Holden's new PCA is working out well and he restarted therapy which is also going well. Alex has been working his tail off at his job. I've been playing secretary for all of this.

Been kind of lonely and a little sad, which is why I took a ( Read more... )

OH THERE YOU ARE. I was starting to wonder. I still don't have (or want) a tumblr.

You can't have a marriage without marital issues.

You would probably hate it. I mostly hate it except for the Rooster Teeth fandom, they're cool. Everything else is bitchy teenagers whining about how they need a boyfriend or their parents grounded them. I use an add-on for Firefox called TumblrSavior that blocks certain tags/words so I don't see a lot of it.

I know a lot of marriages have problems but this is not good. We've spent/been spending so much time on individual problems and working on the kids that we pushed each other and our relationship completely off the back burner and it ended up somewhere behind the stove. It's getting better but I'm still worried.

Random thing that can work if you end up arguing when you try to talk:
Get a notebook, any old notebook. Write down what you want to say, how you feel, whatever, and pass it. You don't even have to read it in the same room, but that way stuff gets put out there, and with writing there's none of the triggery tone of voice things (you know what I mean) so it all stays more rational.

I'm a terrible communicater and used to "talk" things out this way with my ex, often just passing the notebook back and forth. Or if one of us was really upset, we'd write it out, drop it off, and walk out of the room.

Not everybody can write shit down though, but it helps if you wrote lots of notes in school, that's kind of the style to it. You guys might be too young, kids these days probably just text each other. I'm the pre-cell phones pre-internet generation...

I have done this in the past but Alex is awful at writing so what usually ends up happening is he reads my note, thinks about it, then talks to be about what I said. It does help a lot but the issue is that I don't really have the time to write right now. =/

Also: my generation was the last to write notes in high school. Graduated 2005, cell phones were getting just cheap enough that parents could afford them for the teens. I never had one because we were too poor anyway and even when I did I only had 100 texts a month. Weird.
