Oh, you've been to Korea? How interesting... That has never happened to me when I was there, nor had I heard of any such thing happening. I have heard about the pranksters that run onto the trains, pretend to shoot people, and run off before the doors close. But yes, strange things happen there <3;; I hope you enjoyed your stay in Korea. *^_^*
I did, for a while. Because I was (and still am) noticeably overweight, the locals in the southern part of South Korea were, for the most part, incredibly rude. At least in general the people in the northern part of South Korea were nicer.
Ah, I'm sorry your stay wasn't more positive. I hope you weren't too offended-- Koreans aren't the easiest group to please and have very particular standards. So your worst experiences were in the southern part? It makes sense, I guess. As you go further and further away from the bases, the stronger/more obvious their dislike of foreigners (especially Americans) get. They're a very nationalistic and dislike the US-military presence for several reasons. So it probably wasn't just because of your appearance but just the fact you weren't a citizen and above all, American.
Yeah, though it is sort of pathetic when you can't even introduce yourself in a language, but you learned several different ways of calling a person fat in the host country's native tongue.
At least my stay in Japan was far more positive; pretty much no one was rude to me, and I only had problems with the people who offered me jobs and then either realised they messed up or were lying from the start.

This would be even funnier if it did lead to something dangerous (but for your sake, I'm glad it didn't).
