the combination of vista and aim is apparently too much bullshit for a computer to handle
i seriously can't believe i just had to go through that

also, i hope that the guy on the third floor learns how to walk up and down a flight of stairs sometime (hopefully soon)

yeah my friend more or less had to struggle for a good hour to get the classic AIM to work with Vista
