Pope John Paul II finally kicked the bucket. Everyone's now saying what a good person, a great pope, and charismatic individual he was. What I don't get, is why everyone suddenly forgot the fact that the pope was everyone's favorite person to like but disagree with? The man was a autocratic tyrant. He consolidated all the power of the Vatican

Don't count on it. The people electing the new pope were mostly put into power by the current pope. Unlikely that anything will change.
