Meredith watched as her best friend devoured her lunch with enough speed and efficiency to challenge Takeru Kobayashi to a hot dog eating contest.

Come to think of it, Cristina had already won one several years ago amongst the interns, so that wasn’t too far off of a concept.

Cristina only paused long enough to glance up at Meredith, fork resting just in front of her mouth. “What?”

“I haven't seen you eat like this since the night before the intern exam.”

“I didn't get dinner last night,” Yang shot back as she returned her attention to her food. “And back then I needed the carbs.”

Meredith's smirk widened just a little. “Carbs don't make you smarter. Just fatter.”

Cristina looked up sharply again, glaring.

“Is Owen wearing you out with the sex again? Is that why didn’t get dinner and now you’re eating enough food to supply a family of gorillas?”

Cristina rolled her eyes and kept eating.

“If you’re not careful, you’re just going to get more grill marks burned into your ass,” Meredith pointed out, waving her fork in Cristina’s direction.

“And if you’re not careful, you’re going to get this spoon shoved up yours,” Yang shot back, holding it up in her free hand with a menacing wave.

“Kinky.”

Both women looked over to see Mark Sloan saunter up. He placed his tray on the table and then fell into the chair across from Cristina. He didn’t usually eat with residents, but Callie was M.I.A. and Blondie still wouldn’t look him in the eye, so he settled for those beneath him.

Mark immediately bit into the apple he held in his hand and winked at Meredith.

Her eyes narrowed suspiciously. “What did you do, Sloan?”

Mark smiled widely around his mouthful of fruit. “What? Can't a guy eat an apple with his colleagues and not have 'done something'?”

Cristina watched him carefully. “A guy probably could. But you? No.”

Mark continued to smirk as he chewed.

Meredith looked up just in time to see her half-sister barreling straight toward them, a wide smile on her face. “Did you guys hear?” Lexi nearly squealed as she dropped her tray and then fell into the chair next to her sister.

“Hear what?” Mark asked around another bite.

Lexi quickly looked over to him, her smile fading just a little. “I'd think you out of anyone would already know.”

“Know what?” Meredith cut in.

Lexi bounced in her chair. “They're gonna have a baby!”

“No, I’m not!” Meredith instantly shot back, her eyes widening substantially. “Did Derek tell you that? Because I specifically told him ‘maybe’ and used the words ‘think about it’.” Angry, she threw what was left of her sandwich down onto her plate. “He is never getting sex again. Ass.”

Lexi blinked at Meredith in surprise. “Um, actually, I wasn’t talking about you.”

Cristina stared at Meredith too, clearly amused. She eventually turned her attention back to Little Grey. “Who’s having a baby? Better not be Alex and that little tramp Reed. Then we’ll be stuck with her forever.”

“It's not Reed!” Lexi snapped irritably, clearly unhappy with the route this conversation was taking.

Mark bit into his apple with a husky laugh.

Lexi opened her mouth to continue, but the sound of approaching footsteps interrupted.

Alex appeared as he dropped his tray onto the table before taking the seat across from Lexi. “Torres and her crazy little jealous girlfriend are gonna reproduce.”

Lexi shot him a wide eyed glare. “Alex! I was gonna tell!”

Alex shrugged at Lexi and tore a bite off his sandwich.

“Isn’t that ‘crazy jealous girlfriend’ also your boss?” Yang piped up, quirking a brow at Alex.

He glared. “So?”

“So, she might not look like it, but she has the power to make your life miserable if she wants to,” Cristina said. “She made me do sixteen rectal exams in one day just because I pretended to like children.”

Everyone that had food grimaced.

“Dude, she hates me already, so whatever,” Alex pointed out.

“How come?” Lexi asked. “Aside from the fact that you’re a giant ass with a serious attitude problem.”

“Evil spawn,” Cristina agreed.

“Because I nailed her girlfriend first,” Alex replied with a smug look.

Mark casually leaned over. He held the half-eaten apple in his hand as he rested an elbow against the table. “I'd watch what I say about nailing someone else's girlfriend.” He cut his eyes up to meet Alex's, no trace of a smile on his face.

Lexi watched the exchange nervously from her seat. Meredith and Cristina didn't look away as they waited for Alex's reaction.

“And just to be clear,” Mark added after a long, tense pause. “I don't really like you much right now, either.”

Alex swallowed his mouthful of food and suddenly looked nervous.

Then Sloan flinched in his direction, and he automatically twitched. That only served to make Mark laugh. Alex scowled and jumped out of his seat, grabbing his tray and storming off to go sit elsewhere.

“Just to be clear, you’re an ass,” Lexi growled at him. “A child-like ass of a man who’s old enough to…not act like a child! Or an ass!” She, too, jumped up with her food, but fled in the opposite direction of Alex.

Mark didn’t look in the least bit remorseful as he leaned back casually in his chair.

Cristina went back to eating and Meredith shook her head. “How Derek grew up with you and still turned out sane is beyond my comprehension.”

Mark shot her a look, still smirking as he brought the apple to his lips once more. “You don't have to comprehend me,” he replied, chewing. “Just bow at the feet of my perfection.”

Both women rolled their eyes, grabbed their trays, and abruptly walked away.

Already fifteen minutes late, Arizona burst into the on-call room she knew Callie was waiting for her in. “Sorry, sorry,” she apologized, closing the door behind her. “Late, sorry.”

She shrugged her lab coat off and tossed it aside, leaving her in a short-sleeved navy scrub top. “I just pulled a bezoar the size of a baseball out of a kid’s abdomen. It had like, hair, and food, and I think part of a house plant mixed in.” She sounded entirely too excited for a subject matter such as this.

Callie, sitting on the couch, paused with a sandwich hovering right around her mouth and just stared up at Arizona.

The blonde grimaced weakly. “And...sometimes I just shouldn’t say words.”

Callie laughed as she pulled the sandwich away from her lips to shoot her girlfriend a smile. “I know we both hate sandwiches,” she started as she reached toward the table to push a white take-out carton over. “But it was fast, cheap, and easy.”

Arizona snickered. “Sounds like my last girlfriend.”

Callie's smile dropped and she arched a slow, pointed brow.

Arizona closed her eyes. “Words need to stop coming out of my mouth.”

Shaking her head, she shuffled over to the couch and plopped down beside Callie, automatically resting a hand on her thigh. “How’s your day going so far, sweetie?”

Callie glanced down at the hand. “It's gettin' better.”

Arizona chuckled with a slight roll of her eyes as Callie pulled her dark gaze back up. “What am I gonna do with you, hm?”

The brunette smirked as she leaned closer to her girlfriend. “You really gotta ask?”

With a knowing smile, Arizona took the sandwich from Callie’s hand, reached over to replace it in the container, and then once more leaned back against the couch.

This time her hand ran a little further up the inside of Callie’s leg. “I’ve got a couple of ideas,” she husked softly, her voice dropping an octave. “I’ll try ‘em out, you tell me which one you like most.”

Arizona leaned in the small distance between them and sealed her words with a kiss.

Callie sighed contently into the contact. She reached over with her right hand to place it against her girlfriend's hip, smiling against her lips. “Is this all we're ever gonna do in here?”

Arizona pulled back from the kiss with a husky laugh. She stared across the short distance into Callie’s dark eyes.

They were never anything short of stunning.

“I hope she has your eyes,” she suddenly whispered.

Callie felt another piece of her heart easily melt inside of her chest. “That's funny,” she replied just as softly, gazing back into clear blue. “I was just about to say the same thing.”

Arizona chuckled and circled both arms around Callie’s neck. “I guess we could make ‘blue eyes’ a criteria,” she pondered. “But I still hope she gets yours.” She leaned in again, only this time she pressed a soft kiss to the end of Callie’s nose. “And your nose.” They moved to the corner of Callie’s mouth. “And your smile.” Then around to just below her ear and behind her jaw. “And this cute little birth mark.”

Callie sucked in a sudden, sharp breath. “I just want her to be healthy,” she finally managed to reply as she turned her head into her partner’s. She placed her lips next to Arizona's ear as she felt those soft kisses trail along her neck. “She'll be beautiful ‘cause she's ours.”

“Sounds like someone else is starting to become partial,” Arizona teased. “Wonder why that is.”

She shifted and sneakily slid her left leg across Callie’s lap, sliding over just enough to straddle her. Both arms tightened their hold around Callie’s shoulders, and she continued the path of slow, wet kisses up her neck.

“Boy or girl, I’ve never been more excited about anything in my life, Calliope.” Arizona brushed her lips against her lover’s ear. “I love you.”

Mushy or not, after nearly losing their relationship, Arizona had made a vow to tell Callie how much she loved her as often as possible. Just to make sure she really knew.

Callie wasn’t going to complain about hearing it. “You too,” she whispered huskily into Arizona’s ear just before she dipped her head back to allow more freedom with those kisses.

She wasn't gonna complain about those, either.

Arizona continued her assault along her girlfriend’s neck, pretty content to spend her entire lunch hour right where she was.

Who needed food when she had Calliope to keep her occupied?

Arizona’s left hand slowly slid up the front of her lover’s body, rounding over a firm breast and squeezing it with a soft moan.

The door to the on-call room suddenly opened.

“Torres, I need you t-” Bailey's words abruptly changed mid-sentence when she looked up from the file in her hand. “-two are worse than teenagers!” She walked over to the couch to smack Arizona on the back of the head with the thick folder. “Get offa her!” When Arizona didn't immediately move, Bailey thwacked her again. “Now! Move it!”

Ducking and holding up an arm in a feeble attempt to protect herself, Arizona scrambled, tripped over herself and Callie, and fell off to the side with a ‘thud’.

For good measure, Bailey smacked her one more time, and followed it up by knocking Callie upside the head right after. “I swear, you two…”

“Are filing for co-worker abuse!” Callie shot back as she reached up to rub at the side of her head, glaring at Bailey.

“Oh, please.” Miranda rolled her eyes as she looked from Callie down to the blonde sprawled out on the floor. “You should be ashamed of yourself. You have a kid on life support and three in critical condition.”

Arizona twitched a little.

Bailey smirked before turning her attention to Torres.

Who, up until that point, was smirking too.

“And you,” Bailey scolded as she swiveled the folder to point it directly in her face. “I paged you half an hour ago for this case.” She shook the file a little and Callie jumped in response.

“I was on lunch,” she said defensively. “It wasn’t 911, I was gonna come find you.”

“Before or after Robbins fished the tonsils outta the back of your throat?” Bailey snapped.

Arizona blushed and ran a hand over her face. She didn’t bother getting up, opting to just…sit on the floor, at her girlfriend’s feet, instead.

Callie glanced down at Arizona before returning her attention to the shorter woman in front of them. She reached up to snatch the file from her hand.

Bailey jerked a little before narrowing her eyes at Dr. Torres. “Nineteen year old female. Motorcycle accident. Multiple fractures to her left arm and shattered right knee.”

Callie's eyes widened a little as she began to form a slow smile. “Really?”

Bailey swatted at the ortho surgeon again. “Just get your butt down there ASAP, okay?” She turned to give Arizona another glare. “And you.” She shook her head and scoffed as she quickly walked by the fallen doctor to head for the door.

“How am I the shameful one here?” Arizona called after her. She slumped back against the couch, pouting. “I’dve thought little kids on life support would give me a free pass to try and have a happy, joyful lunch hour.”

She sighed and ran her right hand up along Callie’s calf, playing with the soft material of her navy blue scrubs.

But the touch didn't have it's usual effect.

Callie's attention was completely focused elsewhere, on file folder currently open in her hands. Her slowly growing smile had become much bigger as she read over the information. “Fractured in six places,” she mumbled to herself. “Most likely a full knee replacement. Awesome.”

Arizona looked up at her girlfriend from her spot on the floor. “I think there may be something seriously wrong with you.”

Callie's smile morphed into a smirk, but she never took her eyes from the file in her hands. “Bones aren't the same as tiny, tiny babies. I’m allowed to get excited.” Her brow furrowed and she looked up from the page. “Unless they're the bones inside tiny, tiny babies.”

“I’ll be sure to let you know if I have any tiny baby bones that need fixing,” Arizona mused, gathering her legs beneath her and pushing up to her feet. “Enjoy your knee replacement.”

She leaned over and planted one hand on either side of Callie’s head against the back of the couch. She tilted her head just enough to place a perfect, slow kiss against her lips.

Just because.

Arizona pulled back a fraction. “See you tonight?”

That touch got Callie’s attention.

It took her a moment, but she was finally able to nod mutely. She pulled in a much needed breath, smiling as she reached up with her right hand to rest her fingers against the thin material covering her girlfriend's hip. “Only if I can't corner you in a supply closet before then.” She licked her lips and raked her eyes up and down the blonde's form.

Arizona started to grin slyly. “We are kinda like teenagers, aren’t we?”

“I don’t count that as a bad thing,” Callie replied with a smirk of her own. “We’re getting…reacquainted. It’s allowed.”

“My thoughts exactly.” Arizona leaned in for one more kiss, moaning contently as she forced herself to pull away after a few seconds. “Okay. Tonight. I’ll see you at home.” She kept her left hand against the back of the couch, but moved her right to tug lightly on the front of Callie’s scrubs. “Then maybe we can talk about how we’re gonna go about getting our daughter started.”

Callie never thought she'd hear those words slip from those beautiful, perfect lips.

But they did. And she heard them.

A look of pure joy spread across the brunette's face as she gazed back into those sinfully blue eyes. “I really love it when you say stuff like that,” she admitted.

“Better get used to it,” Arizona replied with a soft smile. “I’m gonna keep saying it till it happens.”

She tugged once more on Callie’s scrubs before reluctantly pulling back. “I’d better go. If Bailey doesn’t see you in the next five minutes, she might come back and hit me over the head with a frying pan.” Giving a little wave, she turned for the door.

“Wait,” Callie called after her as she quickly jumped up from the couch. She just sort of...stood there for a moment, staring.

Arizona stopped on the spot, turning back to the other woman with a tilt of her head. She waited, but there was no elaboration. “Calliope?”

Callie shook her head and finally moved over to the blonde. “I wanna see your clothes hanging next to mine again,” she whispered as she came to a stop just in front of the her. “I hate having a whole drawer to myself.” She paused for a moment to gaze into those blue eyes. “There's always too much hot water instead of never enough.”

Arizona felt her heart ache in her chest. She placed both hands on her girlfriend’s hips and sighed softly as the brunette pushed her back against the door. “I can call my realtor, get her to start a listing for my place.” Her fingers dipped just beneath the hem of Callie’s scrubs to rest against her skin. “Maybe start moving some stuff over before then.” They’d only been back together for a few days, yet Arizona had already spent every night at Callie’s. A good chunk of her clothing was there already, but she owned a lot of things that would take some time to move. “Have you talked to Cristina yet? Or is me showing up with a bunch of boxes gonna come as a surprise?”

Callie shrugged. “I can handle Cristina. Besides, she probably already thinks you live there, so I doubt it’ll be a big deal.”

She reached up with her right hand to bunch Arizona’s scrubs in her fist, tugging her body just a little closer. “Make sure you burn those sheets. I don't even want them in the same building as my...our apartment.”

Arizona's brow furrowed. “What...sheets?”

Callie glared hard at her.

Arizona had to think about it for a moment before it dawned on her. “Oh,” she finally realized with a soft, meek smile. “Those sheets.”

"Mm-hm." In all honestly, Callie was still deeply hurt. It wasn't easy to think of the woman she loved most in the world being so...intimate with another person that wasn't her.

So...yeah. Even if she was trying to 'move past it', it still hurt.

A lot.

Arizona looked away, shame filtering through her happiness. She’d never stop feeling guilty. Never.

“I…” Arizona licked her lips. “I’m sorry.” Her hands tightened on Callie’s hips. “And I’m gonna spend the rest of my life making it up to you. I promise.” She’d never meant anything more.

“Consider them burned.” Arizona pushed up on her toes and placed a soft kiss against Callie's cheek.

She didn’t know if she wanted a kiss on the lips, considering.

The brunette was smiling when Arizona pulled away to meet her dark, intense eyes. “You missed,” she whispered huskily before leaning in to claim her girlfriend's lips in a deep, emotionally charged kiss.

Callie wasn't so sure she'd ever be able to 'forgive' Arizona for what happened with That Bitch. Regardless of what their relationship status had been at the time, she felt worse knowing about the two of them than she ever did about George and Izzie. Seeing Carmen and Arizona together had cut her deeper than she’d ever been cut before.

But she loved Arizona Robbins, and she knew Arizona loved her, too. All that it took was one look into those perfect blue eyes and a kiss that she wanted to last a lifetime, and she knew that what they had was worth fighting tooth and nail for.

Something she planned on doing for the rest of their lives.
