I'm sorry that they're crazy sometimes. If your Mom is all that concerned with me taking birth control, you can tell her matter-of-factly (even though it's none of her business) that I've been taking it for 5 years because my cramps used to be enough to make me cry and curl up in a ball all day long, and that I'm sorry that the fact that I used to have really bad cramps means that I'm a devil worshiper, but it apparently is what it is.

I love you. Your life is about what YOU want. Don't let anyone make you forget that.

also, I don't resent them, and I know they mean well. But I wish they would understand that they can't force their views/ways/opinions/thoughts on other people, and that other people - yes, even their nieces, sons, whatever - are entitled to think and act for themselves. Just because you are not a reincarnation of your mother or of your father does not mean you are not a perfectly good person capable of making perfectly good decisions that will make you perfectly happy. I don't know why that's so hard for them to realize or accept.
