I am reasonably impressed with foobar, very good program, but I think it doesn't fufill the same genre of software that winamp/iTunes fill. Also these third party components are spotty at best depending on your ipod version.
I liked your first answer better since it was an answer and not jagon. ANyway foobar does have a "media library", it's called the database. And winamp is inferior to media player classic for playing video anyway.
In case you were unaware as to the file access rights of windows, if you have a file open in one program you can't modify it with another. Pausing it, does not close the file, it only haults playback at the current position. Think CD player - the CD keeps spinning and you can't really do anything with it while it's paused but it's still paused. Stop is a great idea.
