Good analysis of why itunes sucks. But...

foobar2000 > winamp. And with the right component it can interface with your iPod too.

I am reasonably impressed with foobar, very good program, but I think it doesn't fufill the same genre of software that winamp/iTunes fill. Also these third party components are spotty at best depending on your ipod version.

What do you mean "genre of software"?

Foobar does not have a media library nor does it support video formats.

Foobar is intended as a small mp3 jukebox, iTunes and Winamp are designed to be media solutions.

I liked your first answer better since it was an answer and not jagon. ANyway foobar does have a "media library", it's called the database. And winamp is inferior to media player classic for playing video anyway.

I have looked at this, I have also read reviews that say it is average at best and is downright sketchy on 4th and 5th gen ipods.

Why do you want a stop button?

In case you were unaware as to the file access rights of windows, if you have a file open in one program you can't modify it with another. Pausing it, does not close the file, it only haults playback at the current position. Think CD player - the CD keeps spinning and you can't really do anything with it while it's paused but it's still paused. Stop is a great idea.
