Has anyone ever tried to appeal an unfair grade? I'm going through the process right now, but it doesn't seem like it's going to do any good because I think the professor has it out for me.
I was late to class 4 times. One Monday was a day that a project was "due", but I was only late because I had a dentist appointment. My teacher took off 25% of the grade for the project because we were supposed to call if we we're going to be late. It was still turned in during our scheduled class time, but we were always dismissed early so of course the class had already left. She wouldn't look at my note. The project wasn't actually even due that day, we just were turning it in for a peer review (which we were allowed to opt out of) and then it was supposed to be turned into the professor on Friday. But yea. Then she also took away all my participation points for not participating in the spirit of the class (I have no idea what that means). Shes lying and saying I was late on all my projects. I was getting mostly A's and B's on my projects and assignments and participated in our class discussions. So this seems unfair, and I only missed passing by 30something points.
Eek, that does seem a bit of an awkward situation. I've never had to go through the process myself but I would certainly see what can be done. Make sure to gather any documentations you have for the class like the doctor's note, graded work, etc Hope it all works out for you.
Last semester one of my professors gave me an A- and I thought I deserved an A. (It might seem nit-picky, but other than that A- I had a 4.0 so I was a little upset about being so close.) I e-mailed the professor and told him I wanted to see my final exam. He e-mailed me back and just say "look at your grade now" and he had changed it to an A.
