Visit to Toronto, Day 3

Thought I was finished, did you? They say we should live each day to its fullest. In my case, I am trying to stretch out each day for as long as I can. One week per day seems reasonable. For all those who are offended by my extreme lateness, all I can say is I'm sorry!

The lesson is that lateness is not the end of the world. It was a lesson shiara_Read more... )

Actually it was the last $100 Slam of its season... the regular Toronto Poetry Slam series goes strong all year long. Most slam series pick four or five finalists to represent a team each year, and then they start a new season.

I've heard of Dmitri, he sounds like a royal douchebag.

Based on what I have seen, I would agree. Regretably, these guys seem to end up with more hot chicks than they could ever possibly deserve in a just world.

Um, well, can't say that I'm glad I taught a lesson about lateness, although that was not my intent.... Again, I am *so sorry* about being that late. Really. I am not normally that late, either, but at that point, I hadn't figured out how long it would take me to get from A-- to Kipling, so I guestimated, and was... wrong. Seriously, I am really sorry about that. I felt awful.

May I say right now, I was so embarrassed by my friend and his gushing about Dimitri the Lover. Seriously. Some days, my friend can be really, really dense, since I spoke with his gf afterward (she works in the same department as I do) and she saw how embarrassed I was over it. I can't tell you how much I wanted the concrete to open up and us to sink into it - I couldn't believe him ( ... )

Goodness - it seems like every time I open my e-mouth, I've given you something to apologize about. I'm sorry about that! I do wonder if your friend was secretly envious of Dimitri, though, since he seemed so obsessed with him. I'm glad we met him, though. It added extra color to the day. Uh, make that colour.

The fact that I feel compelled to read every last word in every museum placard shouldn't be surprising. I'm an engineer! Some of my close colleagues have indicated that this creates trouble when you have a bunch of engineers in a museum exhibit at once. What happens when an engineer and an insurance poet (trying to characterize your career at this moment) go to a museum at the same time? Anyway, I'm sure you appreciate the library-like quality of museum browsing.

I should be thanking you for the Vegetarian Haven, since I think you had scoped it out. Yay!

And don't forget, I still have one half-day left before I'm back home again. I'll draw out my vacation as long as I can.

Argh, okay, fine. I should say, I really did feel bad about being late, and then running into my obsessed friend who seemed to be ( ... )

I did go back to the place, and that's one of the things I'll have to write about. Plus my final walkaround where I got to see the Old City Hall up close & inside. A few more photos to share, even. But I don't want to steal the thunder yet. We'll have to wait!
