Great googily moogily! Is that a 'Holy carp how could I forget a sweet band like this' proclamation or a 'They totally sucked after album 1 and I had no idea they were able to put out more drivel' exclamation?
It is most definitely a "holy crap, how could I forget a sweet band like this!??!?!?!??!?!?!" proclamation! Their self-titled was my whole life for a while. I remember listening to that album and ONLY that album on the way to, during, and on the way back from a two week trip to Moab one year. I'mma gon' go finda eet toute suite!
Seek Dosage (#4) my friend and ye shall not be disappointed. Absolutely brilliant!
Precious Declaration (#3) is alright, though I always felt it was a bit of a lacluster effort between two great albums.
Blender (#5) was I think too much of an effor to be commercial success (though I don't know why this would be, as they've always been good). It was overall not too bad, 10 years later, After All, & Perfect Day are all great tracks but it didn't have quite the cohesion that Dosage, Collective Soul, and Hints, Allegations, & Things Left Unsaid did.
Youth (#6) is once again great and once again flows well as an entire album (which is really what I think qualfies an album as great).
Also, if you've never heard their first album (which incidentally was their demo tape and never really meant for release) Hints, Allegations, & Things Left Unsaid, it's worth checking out. It's rough and you can tell they're still figuring things out but it's outstanding if you like early 90s rock.
