Fantastic story... the way it starts with the most mundane of things, grain and milling, and the way the narrator's plan falls apart, and then the hints of the fairy tale and the very much not-the-fairy-tale ending...

That is so kind of you to read the story and give such a nice comment! I am submitting this for publication, and they asked for rewrites of Puss in Boots, which has never been one of my favorites. I really felt like it was a struggle, so I'm glad it wasn't boring. thank you so much!
