Teen daughter: ouch! :) How did she get so old, though, seriously? It seems like she was 10 years old yesterday, oh my gosh! But good luck and godspeed to you on that one. My daughter just turned 15 and I'm still holding on for dear life! They keep you on your toes, don't they?
I try to keep up with what's going on with you, but I've been terribly out of commission, so I missed the part about stacking wood. It sounds strenuous. And writer's block is frustrating, so I feel you there. Are you still taking nature walks? I'm afraid the last I heard you were considering a kayak. Did that ever come to pass? I've been a terrible LJ friend! I hope to be more present now that I'm settling into the school routine and some of the hospital tests are behind us for the time being (I hope ... you know how it goes). I need to catch up on your posts!
I'm embarrassed to bother writing anything personal because my life is so terribly boring. I did see that you are testing for jiu-jitsu and have recently been to Amsterdam. You do enough exotic things to write a book on experience alone!! It's all very exciting!
Your instructor sounds very tough! I would be frustrated without the reward of moving forward. :( You sound very disciplined and self-motivated, though, and I really admire that. I think that the younger generation is really given to instant gratification, so when I see people who are willing to work towards a goal, I appreciate that more and more. I can see that you are tenacious in this, and when you earn your next belt you are going to be so proud of yourself, and we will all be proud of you, too. It will be extra sweet for having been so long in the coming. And you are going to be able to beat up Chuck Norris himself by the time you get to black. ;)
Sounds like lots of exciting things on the job front. That's really cool. I had my first short story published in February by Elm Books (the Fae Love collection) and I've been working on a lot of podficcing this year.
Oh my gosh I'm so proud of you for getting your work published! I'm not surprised one bit; you're a fantastic writer. It's a great feeling, isn't it? Cheers to you! I'm going to tell people that I knew you when!! <3 Many congratulations, and keep up the great work!
Hey there! I hadn't heard from you for a while, and I'd begun to assume the worst, which is to say the usual reason that I stop hearing from people - they've changed their names and moved to the moon. I'm glad to learn that your name isn't Esmerelda Flamjammer and that you don't live on the moon.
Hwango, I have missed you! How have you been? How is your art going? I can't say that I have plans to go to the moon, but the name Esmerelda Flamjammer is too good to pass up, so I have to make that my new alias. I wonder if that would be Ms. or Mrs.? Aha! Dr. Flamjammer for sure! ;)
I say why not both? Dr. Flammjammer has constructed the world's first army of robots that have built in death rays in their chest cavities. MUAHAHAHA! But I'm not evil. This is all for the good of mankind.
