Oh WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN....
All the way a WIN. my goodness me. you had me hooting out loud in parts between the snortings and sporflings.

Oh lord. A SKULL?! Oh dear me... this story itself is a Treasure - seriously!

You can be sooooooo hilariously funny. I think Cap'n Red Locks' (oh dear me, not dreadlocks..oh holds sides wriggling with laughter) I think the good ex-Cap'n's crew are going to be as much
a favourite as your Devil.

And we won't have the Cap'n unless someone hoodoos him back to life again, after he's got to the last green bottle, hanging on the wall.... oh deary me.

Oh, I'm so very pleased to know that you liked it! I didn't think it was very funny! I was worried about stealing too much from the Devil's personality, so I was trying to keep them separate, but it is fun to write things in a lighthearted vein. I can't seem to help myself, although I think the submission wanted something a little darker. Oh well! These characters get into our heads and we just have to write them. Thank you so much for cheering me up about it! *hugs you to pieces*

I hadn't finished commenting cos I was laughing too much... so here's some more -- seriously my ribs do HURT!

And the combination to the footlocker... a combination!!!! oh god.

he couldn’t nod without a neck, and he ended up just rattling himself on the deck. I meannnn ... (gasps for air.)

Were you drunk and disorderly when you wrote this Keppie? cos it is perfectly soberly wonderfully crazily MARVELLOUS.

And it wasn't a BIT like the Devil, they are completely different but just as ooh lordy - crazy... No. Devil and and Red Locks and his crew are like chalk and cheese... they have one thing only in common. the chalk and cheese can be white... the Devil and Redlocks'lot have sheer hilarious craziness in common!

Good greef DID the prompt suggest something darker? a cliff can be a marvellous place on a sunny windy day.. Imposing, all sorts.

You've got my vote this week. Trouble is we have about four others in contention for the second vote. It's quite often terribly difficult to choose.

I wrote this story for BF's prompt of "cliff" and also to publish to a pirate anthology, and THIS was their prompt: A story which is in some way related to pirates, and which is told from the perspective of a dead character who is either in the story or referenced by it. The character must be dead when telling the story, although his or her demise can be before, during or after the events of the tale itself. The anthology is called "Dead Men's Tales" and I think they wanted something slightly more serious and historical in tone, but I couldn't help myself! hehe

Submission are still open so if you have an idea I'd be happy to send you the details and you can send one in of your own. I know you'd write a rollicking good story of your own!!! I'm glad this story tickled your funny bone; I was writing it and thinking "oh, I've gone too far; no one is going to think it's funny at all!"

Yay for humor! This was very reminiscent of the devil, but not in a way that one seems a copycat of the other. I think I mean that they have the same sort of silly yet intelligent charm. And a type of character who shouldn't be loveable, is.

I love that pirates have timecards, and holidays, and fruity gum, and people join for things like fear of public speaking. Perhaps I want to be a pirate too!

I really got a kick out of the "nothing rhymes with sleep" part. My kids try that all of the time and I always come up with something, even if it is absurd.

And finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't say that it had been far too long since they type of story where someone loved a bird. Just sayin', lol.
