I am an archaeologist! Take 2.

The last time I said that was Sophomore year after running around on a site in the rain with Bill Green of the Logan Museum and subsequently being offered a job by him. I was told, once I returned to Lounge, that I didn't have a dog and had never gotten drunk with Dan Shea, so no I wasn't. Well, I still haven't done either of those things, but I' ( Read more... )

Yay archaeology! That sounds awesome.

How did you end up running around on the site in the rain your sophomore year? I haven't gotten to work on any sort of site yet and I'd really like to.

I haven't even had a class with Dan Shea, much less gone drinking with him (don't really want to do that latter one. Will probably end up having senior sem with him, I suppose). Nor do I see myself owning a dog in the future. I like Nancy's dog Moose, though. I really do want to go to a site, though. Haven't done that either. Can't check anything off the checklist.

Shall keep an eye out for Sherlock.

There happened to be a parking lot being up in on Chapin St. while I was taking Theory and Technique in Archaeology, so the class went to help out and I went back on my own for the next few days. On the last day before the parking lot was filled in, I was the only volunteer who showed up and when it started raining, Bill and I had to make a mad dash for the paper bags holding artifacts and then we sloshed around in the mud taking measurements and drawing maps. And that's how I started working at the Logan.

My main issue with Sherlock (though I LOVED the dialogue) was that the mystery was so simple (at least in the first episode). I was disappointed.

I'm just so impressed that they managed to keep it so nicely canon in a modern setting. All the tiny little clever ways they incorporated details from the stories (like Holmes' monograph being a website, "a three patch problem", Watson's dubious injury location, Watson's blog) pleased the hell out of me.

Watson has a blog in the show? It doesn't actually exist online somewhere, does it? That would be /awesome/.

Aw, thank you, Little D! Any intervention with Ra would be much appreciated. And any word to Wadjet to keep her kids inside would be great, too.
