Brendan came to visit this weekend, and that was lots of fun - we went to see the museums and monuments on the Mall, and had lots of good food.  It's nice to get to spend time together, since it's been 2 months since Commencement.  I'll get to see him next in just 3 weeks, so it should be a lot easier than this last break was ( Read more... )

Let me just say I heart the NIH.  PubMed doesn't have a paper from a random, obscure journal from 1975?  No problem - the NIH has it.  Totally, totally awesome.

Yay for having a new computer at work.  The new one is awesome - sure, it has its issues (i.e. it freezes a lot and stuff), but it's so much better than the 6 year old Dell that was running Windows 2000.  At least it doesn't take half an hour for the computer to start up in the morning :p ( Read more... )

Geez.  I need to stop eating.  I had a massive amount of food on Saturday at a 6-hour-long barbecue, and then made cake for the post-bac who's leaving, and I haven't had a chance to work out, so I'm not feeling too great.  Time to start eating my salad :p

I'm on my way home for the weekend, but I'll be back Sunday.

I really, seriously, need to learn how to save money.  How on earth did I spend anywhere near $650 since I moved here?  Where did the money go?!?!

Seriously, I need a hobby that doesn't involve going out 2-3 nights a week.

So yesterday, I spent 10 hours at work, and today I'll probably spend around 9.  Hopefully I have something to show for it and I haven't just completely wasted time.  I wish I could write about my results like Sage does, but since I'd like to see my name on the publication of this data, it's probably a good idea not to give it to other people.  Let ( Read more... )

Why do I always doubt the things that make me happy?

Geez.  I just found out today that two acquaintance/friends of mine from high school are engaged to each other now.  The news instilled in me quite the feeling of panic at first, then I decided that they are just jumping the gun a bit and I'm not abnormal at all for having no plans of marriage any time soon ( Read more... )
