House was king.
He always had been king. Chase would go so far as to call him "God" if it weren't for the whiteboard that kept track of the score between the two; three each side. Equal. He had been the one to keep score during that case.
Chase's lips quirked upwards at the memory. Back then, House looked at him as though he wasn't a traitor.
The smile dropped from his lips and his fingers reached up to tentatively touch the bruise spread out across his jaw.
Sure, House had punched him because he was in pain but that didn't make it any less of a punishment for going to Vogler. Why had he gone to Vogler? He was scared of losing his job, the only thing that meant anything to him.
House was king and Chase had commited treason; House was God and Chase had lost his faith.
Chase could only watch, helpless and so very alone, as House turned his back on him.
