stranger

how would it feel
to shed the layers
of this fragile
and oddly-formed
shape
like a too small
exoskeleton
crawl from the
suffocating societal
cocoon of rose-colored
ignorance and apathy
spread wings like
mosaics
of imagination
and independent thought
and float freely
fade into breeze and clouds
until captured and pinned down
paper-thin wings
falling away
to reveal vulnerability
or placed behind glass
a warning to the masses

stranger was hard for me to title...they all are...if I had my way, all my poems would be untitled. Finally, I took the title from what inspires me...in this case Albert Camus' The Stranger. The poem expresses some of the same feelings toward society and in the end, that's why I chose the title. Anyway, stranger is supposed to be my commentary on society. Take what you will from it.
