Little did I know...

This great post from silent_bunny inspired me. It's something I think about a lot-- the little moments in life that don't seem very important at first, but end up changing everything after the fact. The randomness of life is something that both scares and intrigues me ( Read more... )

I was just thinking about this a few weeks ago, so I'm glad that you made a post about it. What would have happened if I hadn't decided to walk back to my room from the studio that night that brothers from APO were singing by the King Alfred statue and handing out apple cider? Maybe I would have decided to pledge eventually, but not right then if I had missed them. And then I wouldn't have known the same people, and so forth. Yeah, in this case it makes one grateful for the decisions we've made and as for regrets-well what can you do? We have to take it all, unfortunately. ::waves::

Yeah, I don't think I ever would have pledged a fraternity if I hadn't already been friends with people who were in it... I never considered myself the Greek type (not that APO's really considered Greek at most schools, but I didn't know that at the time).

I'm glad things turned out the way they did, though. I wouldn't want to trade in all the awesome people I've met. :)

Yeah, I know. I'm the person who seemed so wonderful at first would turn out to be a total psychopath. Thx. Rly. :)

Yeah, APO has been a big part of a lot of people's lives. I have a similar story, taking a class with a brother. We met to study for said class, and somehow I ended up here. Weird.

Interesting post, though. I've always been a big fan of "everything happens for a reason," and things like this (at least to me) reinforce this philosophy.

Oh, don't flatter yourself, loser. You are a few crayons short of a box, but that's not what I meant. Unless you're secretly an overweight, sociopathic philosophy student from Oregon. In which case, plz die in a fire kthx. :D

I guess I'd agree that things happen for a reason. I don't think events in life are totally random and meaningless, if only because that's a really depressing philosophy. And even bad things that happen can have value, if only as learning experiences that contribute to the person you become. I just wonder, if I'd made different decisions would I still have ended up in the same place right now, or taken a totally different path? It's a weird thought.

Sometimes it's "little did I know" that this person who seemed so wonderful at first would turn out to be a total psychopath.

Yeah, I have a few not quite pleasant "little did I know"s as well. Some of them also fall under the "dammit, I should have known!" category, and some others made me a more well-rounded person. After kicking me in the face first of course ;)

and never suspected that that random person would become someone who mattered a lot to me in a few months or years.

I love that! I can think of a couple of things I would have never in a hundred years thought I'd be friends with them, and now they mean the world to me. It's pretty neat all the potentiality in this world, and so much of it under guise of something as mundane and insignificant as gaming workshops and OKCupid.

What scares me is thinking there's something I should be doing that I've somehow missed out on.Nah. You're never too old to do something if you were meant to do it. If you miss out on something this time around, good chances it'll come ( ... )
