I have deleted my Facebook and am having a bit of an experiment. Can I let it go? I have no idea. I have told myself I cannot reactivate it until October 1, and hope that by then I won't want to.

You've been missed. There are several negative things about FB, including its immersive aspect, the way it makes the trivial seem hyper-important, and how it gives the impression of a lot of friends when it's again superficial. Good luck with your experiment and I look forward to reading what's been going on and hearing about stuff in your life.

Aw, welcome back. I understand your FB issues and find the LJ format better suits my needs for communication with my core group and FB is my bit of fluff that I try not to take too seriously or is my outlet for those friends/family that I've reconnected with that I don't want to completely lose touch with again. I look forward to hearing about your boys here again. :)

Yes, FB is just out of control. I did try to delete anyone who wasn't personally related to me or I hadn't sat down to eat a meal with. It was still over 900 people. And some of them really piss me off. And I just couldn't give it my energy anymore.

We'll see how this works.

It's really difficult not to log in to the account and see what's going on with people. I can't, though. I need to reclaim some of the time and energy I've invested there.

I'm also going to be a big dick and try to keep the Cali account only for derby. I *have* to have a Facebook presence for derby as that's where all planning, meetings, and subcommittee business is done. I have some cleaning up on that account to do, too, but I can tell you that 50 people is much easier to manage than 900. So far. Cannot let it get out of control.

900! omg I have a hard enough time with my 300+ but most are there for that chair, so they don't talk as much as I do.
