Some Things I Did Not Know About France Before Coming Here

-If you smile at strangers, you look fake. Most French people believe that Americans are taught to smile for no reason and that these smiles are disingenuous. However, if something is funny and you and another person happen to laugh at / smile about something, or share a moment, then smiling is appropriate because there's a reason for doing so.

Wow, that's all very interesting. Especially the smiling thing...Americans think French people are snobs because they don't smile, and the French think we're idiots because we do smile!

Mi opinion: When I smile at people, even randomly, there's ALWAYS a reason. Perhaps a frivilous reason, but a reason none the less.
