Attention anyone flying to DFDF

May 23, 2011 08:53

It seems there's been another Icelandic eruption, ash cloud may reach UK by Tuesday. No information about flights yet, of course, but there "may be disruption".

Yeah, I saw that and my heart sank. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the reports I've seen about the dust being heavier and less likely to cause a problem are actually accurate. Meh. Also - should have bought the holiday insurance last week, clearly!

Refresh that link, they are (as usual) changing it without giving any indication of change. It now has a map, and it looks as though it will affect northern UK but possibly not the south (also quoted that it's unlikely to be as severe as last year).

We're due to fly up to the Orkneys on Thursday and be you sure the arses at the CAA and BA will do nothing until the very last possible moment when making alternative arrangements will no longer be an option- they did this during the strikes last year at this time.

Loganair have already taken an executive decision to close down the Kirkwall route effectively grounding the Orkneys :o(

So much for 'we're so much better prepared this time'!

Gah!
