Can someone explain to me the male inability to close things? I'm serious. If I did not know any better, I would be forced to conclude that M is physically incapable of closing any of the following: doors, jars, Tupperware, plastic baggies, shampoo bottles, toothpaste tubes, cabinets, closets, drawers, tool boxes, oh and basically anything and ( Read more... )

OMG YES!! I am VERY grateful DH cooks and part of that "bargain" is I do the dishes, but HOW does he use EVERY pot and pan????

Hahaha! My boyfriend is pretty good in that regard, but the boyfriend prior to him was just as you describe. I'd come home from work (he worked nights) and every cabinet in the kitchen would be wide open. WHY!

Okay, while it's not all males, I'm given to understand a lot of them have these issues. Setting aside the possible cause of "not giving a shit because someone else (i.e. *you*) will", it could be a matter of fine motor control. Boys lag behind girls developmentally, and then grow larger fingers to boot. Perhaps his cack-handedness is a source of shame, and so he feigns obliviousness as a cover.

You might want to suggest he see an occupational therapist to address this lack of fine motor control, so he can put caps back on like a healthy grown-ass adult.

The socks, alas, I have no solution except to cultivate a gratefulness that they aren't joined by underpants. I'm looking right now at discarded drawers from both the spouse and the girl-child. Because that makes a welcome living room environment.
