Yeah, I knew it was coming (mostly cause Steph is like five minutes ahead of me and she told me he squished it), but...yeah, I don't like it when animals get hurt. I didn't care about the tortured dude! Funny.
I was so bleh about this episode. Maybe it's my mood or PMS or something but every minute of the episode I was glaring at the tv and various characters for being so dumb. They're trying to build Sayid into this big force of evil bringing Charlie over to the Dark Side but you just know that they're going to puss out in the end and Sayid will be apologetic and get his redemption, which he really shouldn't even at this point. It's just annoying me that this whole show is all build up and no follow through.
This season has been a lot like that. Like premature ejaculation as a television show or something. I get that they want the characters to be complex like actual people, but that's not how it comes off. It comes off as manic freaking depression most times. Which, maybe, is supposed to be normal? I'm just hoping and hoping that this is going somewhere decent by the season ender. I know it's stupid, but I am. I liked last week's better than this week's.
I agree, last week's was way better than this week. And I think you're right about the writers trying and failing to make the characters more "human" too. It almost feels like with all these characters and so much going on that they're trying to please all of the people all of the time and they're failing a little more with every new episode. Sayid can't be the soldier with the heart of gold and the loving family man who's still grieving Shannon and the heartless torturer, and the mechanical whizz who can turn a coconut into a radio like the freaking proffessor on Gilligan, no one is all those things at once without having multiple personality disorder. I'm hoping something good comes of all this too. I'd hate to watch this whole season only to have it flop at the end.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Sayid is one of the more unrealistic characters, who's all things to everybody. Jack's a fucktard, but at least he's consistently a fucktard, and at least his character changes are a result of being named the leader and then finding himself not as in control as he'd like, and then just getting tired of people not doing what he says. He was sweet in the beginning, and now he's a fucktard. That's fine. He doesn't swing between charming sweetheart and fucktard. Sawyer's also consistent, and his character's dual personality thing has always been there. He's always been a bastard with a heart that he'd prefer you not know about. Locke is swinging between romantic philosopher, hunter, group conscience and violent arsewipe. Sigh. I think you should go watch this: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/sawyer.php?funny
Ack! Spoilers!krud42February 18 2006, 20:26:33 UTC
I'm not listening!...
Yeah, I know, you did the cut-id thing, which I appreciate. But I've missed the last two episodes (due to perfectly timed brain farts of "cosmic anomaly" proportions), as well as neglecting to record them. So I'm painfully out of the loop. (Though at this point I'd be okay waiting for the DVD set to come out, but only if I could avoid any and all spoilers, which I know won't happen.)
