I find working is so much more complicated and frustrating now that I'm a mummy. I work because I want to contribute to the household finances. I want my daughter to see both her parents sharing responsibility for earning and household chores. I want her to aspire to get herself a good education and build a career. However, I suffer mummy guilt when she's in nursery four days a week.

I changed jobs after she was born so that I could be closer to home but I don't feel that I can apply for promotions because it would take me away from home more often. I sometimes feel that I'm treading water until she goes to school, when I might be able to start forging ahead again. I try to be philosophical (but it doesn't always help!).

I'm sure the right opportunity is out there waiting for you. If you look, you will find it and it will feel comfortable. My mentor told me 'if a job doesn't feel like the right for your family and work-life balance, then it probably isn't the one for you'. I hope this helps?

Oh dear, sorry to hear about this. Obviously, I don't know the reasons for the change in your view of the school, so I can't comment very meaningfully on that side of things. But I'm sorry that your plans have turned out to need adjusting, anyway. I hope you are able to put some new and better ones into action soon.

Echoing what the others said - I hope the changes ahead aren't too disruptive and work out for the best for everyone.
