This is kind of off-topic, but it seems like you'd be a good person to ask - do your kids have your/your husband's accent or that of their peers? I've been thinking about that (especially with Julian) recently because of our move.

It's a hybrid. I definitely notice little American twangs in things they say, but my friends often comment on how British they sound with certain phrases.

Mostly, their pronunciation and terminology is British... the only thing they've really picked up at school over what's used at home is 'Mommy'. Sometimes I'm surprised by what Americanisms haven't taken hold. Sprog has lunch at school, and yoghurt is a common lunch item among his friends, yet the other week, he refused to believe me when I told him the American pronunciation was yogurt. He must have heard it said that way, yet the British pronunciation over-rules it in his head. Similarly, pants refers only to underwear, and he laughs at me if I call trousers pants. (Probably uncoincidentally, his favourite gag from the LEGO movie is "Honey, where are my pants?")
