Last night I finished watching Pushing Daisies (free streaming of both seasons with Amazon Prime). It was a good show, combining fantasy, semi-noir murder-mystery, and romance ( Read more... )

i thought it was visually interesting and it was all right the forst season but there was a time in the middle of the second season that i didn't watch any tv at all (possibly the digital switchover) and there were several shows that i never picked up again. pushing daisies was one of them.

If you have access to it via streaming it might be worth watching the rest. I wouldn't purchase it, though.

have you seen Wonderfalls? Lee Pace was fantastic in it.

I saw it and liked it to begin with, though I seem to remember the plots got increasingly convoluted and annoying towards the end. There's quite a good fanfic here if you want an ending to Ned and Chuck's story!

I didn't see it as convoluted so much as repetitive, since every episode had to have someone die to have a mystery to solve. The town seemed to have a surplus of unexplained deaths, and with a potential reward for each one. I eventually lost interest in House because of similar repetitiveness. I could see if PD had ran as long as House did losing interest as well, unless they started changing things up.

I was actually thinking about how I would write their ending. It would not be happy like that fic, as sweet as it is. My take is that ultimately they'd have to split or Chuck would die from eventual accidental contact.

You're probably right - a magic/cooking solution is fair enough in fanfic, but a romantic happy ever after wouldn't really fit with the outlook of the show. But if it had lasted 5 seasons, it'd probably have gone that way anyway!

About the happiest ending I could envision would them growing enough to be able to have relationships with other people. Chuck I think would be in a better position than Ned in that case.
