I knew him before he took on the moniker. His name was D. Kieth Howington, and he was the founder of Logix, a company that made satellites. He took on the nome de plume when a lawsuit that went bad cost him his company, and subsequently decided to focus on his writing instead.
He was, indeed, a kind and caring man, and helped me out of a couple small binds when I needed wise advice and a smart-sounding voice on the other side of the phone, to help nudge my bosses boss in the right direction.
His contributions to the CTC community as a whole, and to his friends here on LiveJournal were priceless, and he shall be sorely missed.
You are most welcome to the CTC anytime. If you would like to add a tribute on the page regarding Level_Head's passing, it will be appreciated by everyone. :)

I did some digging around and found his old old blog, under his name, with those memories of his father.
I'm not a member or even a regular visitor of the CTC forums, I just happen to find myself there today (well, yesterday now).
