Right to Listen

Do we have a Right to listen to a speaker? The question came up after a conversation in social media the other day.  People were reacting to a student protest and I pointed out that the students keeping others from hearing what the speaker had to say.  They felt that their right to protest superseded anyone’s right to listen.   One person told me

They don't have the right to shout people down and use violence and intimidation to prevent someone from speaking. Mob rule on campus is becoming a serious problem and whoever is instigating violence needs to be held accountable.
