Almost half a year, and no post. But what better day to finally do it than 7/7/07? I'm sort of done with livejournal and thinking about deleting it, although I do like reading other people's conviently on my friends list, so maybe not

Holy shit, a whole six months! I think jobs kind of automatically shut you out when you have no experience most of the time. From what I've seen everyone wants like a year or two experience but wtf you have to have a place to get that experience. So it kind of makes no sense. I have the most amazing picture for you, lol.

Somehow I became the unoffical hiring manager at my job. And I have to say, as someone working on the other side, that if someone calls or emails me directly, they definitely get an advantage over the candidates. Because I tell my bosses that this person is really interested and that always gets them an interview. It doesn't come across as annoying, but shows that a candidate really interested and sets them apart from the tons of resumes I get. That's my experience, maybe its different in other places, but I say, go for it. Make the follow-up phone call (or email) and ask if the position you applied for is still opened, because you're still interested.
