7. Do you listen to music while you write? What kind? Are there any songs you like to relate/apply to your characters?
All the time. I seldom do anything without music (which makes learning and revising lessons pretty hard, haha, but that's another story), and writing as well as drawing are no exceptions to this, on the contrary.
Usually I either listen to OSTs, either from movies I liked or from anime (I'm especially inspired by Kajiura Yuki's stuff), or to a defined set of songs that apply to some of my characters. I tend to have 'cycles' of songs/music related to certain of my works. For instance, the Fate/Stay Night OSTs were what took me through my 2007 NaNo (Oraison d'Être). Was is pretty much linked to music from Pendulum (Lyle in particular) and Sonata Arctica (Ewan & Adrian), as well as the Alone in the Dark OST. Our Darker Purpose goes hand in hand with Nine Inch Nails' Ghosts pieces and Yuki's OST for Pandora Hearts.
Often you'll find neither rhyme nor reason to why a specific kind of music goes with this or that work/character. I.e. Sonata Arctica may not have struck anyone as being related to Was (nor was it right in the beginning), but after a while of listening while writing about Ewan among other people, the association just felt 'right'. I have many other examples to illustrate, but I'm not going to go through all of them, for sure.
