Cauliflower is a comfort vegetable! I always knew this about broccoli, but it turns out they're related in more ways than taxonomy. Cauliflower makes excellent gratins and casseroles. Nom ( Read more... )

cauliflower is a total comfort food! i prefer it over broccoli, but together with cheese on top takes me back to childhood as well, where most of my comfort food desires developed.

I don't think I ate cauliflower till I was a grownup, but we had broccoli as a special treat when I was a kid. I discovered cauliflower through the two together with cheese, though.

Mmmmmm. I love cauliflower with cooked shredded chicken, peas, and cream of celery soup, with the same panko/cheese topping. Now I want this for dinner and we have NO cauliflower!

Well, I'd send you some of mine, but I suspect the mail would be a lot slower than your grocery store. I wouldn't have thought cream of celery, but now I'm intrigued by that concept, too.

Hrm. And it would be a place to indulge my interest in finding a good vegan cheese recipe (because manufactured vegan cheeses are sketchy & not particularly tasty).
