One of the biggest issues that we as a generation will have to address is the energy consumption of our society. We consume more energy than ever before in the histroy of the species. I quite like the idea of solar panels on the roof and a windmill in the garden, but I want one of those quaint little Dutch style ones, not one of the modern swooshy turbines! Apparently in the UK now it's possible to get enough sunshine to even have enough power to sell back to the National Grid, which is amazing ( ... )

I agree with a lot of this.
Funny, since I'm so bad at actually educating myself, it took the "West Wing" to let me know that Ethinol was actually worthless.
Now that I know, I do my best to spread the word.

The problem that I'm facing is that being in a farm state, most elected officials, wanting to be re-elected, are spastic about ethanol. Sure, it'll help farmers in the short term....

But then we're still fucked. Even my political idol, Senator Tom Harkin is insane about ethanol and shit. Unfortunate.
