I apologise for my country's radiokatierox342June 28 2012, 15:06:14 UTC
Not that a lot of countries around the world can make claim to having the most depth-filled songs though, especially not ones that will be accepted openly by mainstream media. Good thing this broadcast wasn't the year Lena won XD Love the song, but the lyrics aren't exactly going to start a philosophical revolution of advanced thought *shot*
I still admit to finding it awesome CBC was talking about Eurovision at all though. I also find the name of England's contestant hilarious XD Many hearts go out to England just for that. I should really find out what's happening in the Euro Cup verse. I think last I had heard, Poland beat out Ukraine? Why do I have strange images of Liet being a prize at stake in that game? XD Still can't wait to see what kinds of fiction you come up with for it ^^

PS. Random by the by, but I was wondering what ever became of your flag scarf project?

Haha, why the need to apologize? I think it's a pretty good analysis overall--and an entertaining one too XD I agree, England's contestant's name was just great.
Actually, Poland and Ukraine co-hosted, so they didn't play in the same group. Both failed to exit group stage, though :( If they played each other, though, Liet being a prize would be an excellent motivator for both, wouldn't it xD Also Italy beat Germany today, and will play Spain in the final as a result.
Oh yes, flag scarves... Sooo I bought lots of yarn, but knitting takes a while and as the semester wore on time grew in shorter and shorter supply. I did end up finishing a scarf--an Estonia one xD I also ended up with some nice wall decoration, with a Swiss flag and a Polish flag in addition to the Finnish flag. I also have most of my Finland scarf done and a fair amount of a (very tiny) Germany scarf. So it's still going on, just veeery slowly. >.>
Because CBC is full of the opinionated Canadians XDkatierox342July 1 2012, 06:19:25 UTC
Otherwise they're few and far between and hard to find. But I will admit that most of the Eurovision songs I've heard are fairly shallow (*cough*EricSaade-Popular*cough*), but we can't exactly look down on them for that given how we produced Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, etc etc other artists who until recently I thought were American. XD I don't think I have it in me to ship Ukraine and Liet, but either Russia or Belarus egging her on to plow Poland into the dirt I can see. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, my mind didn't go straight to fanfiction the second you said Italy beat Germany and would go on to face Spain. Nope! Not a bit. At all.
And that children is what we call lying through my ass XD
You should take some pics of your wall hangings some time ;P Your knitting still sounds more exciting than mine. You can at least use different colours in the same project XP My last project was a plain brown scarf of knit and purl and me complaining that I had a wrist disease that I had just learned the name of >.< Oh shoot! It's been 7

Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier! I found a really helpful tutorial to knit vertical stripes here: http://www.knitsimplemag.com/node/85 and then just improvised the horizontal stripes by starting a new row with the cross color yarn instead of the background color yarn. For the Swiss flag, I just started knitting with white yarn in the middle at the appropriate places, and then knit or purled as appropriate to keep the ugly pieces all on one side xD I'm not sure how exactly to explain it--I kind of just experimented until I liked how things turned out.
I hope your summer class is going well :D
Singapore? Sounds exciting! Mind if I ask what you're planning to do in the future, if you have any idea?
