I got my goodies from MRH! Including a bunch of little tins so I don't have to use Altoids tins and chapstick tubes for balm.

I'm going to celebrate by making some stuff that will hopefully fade my old scars. Now, I already make what I'm calling "wound balm" for friends -- it's just shea butter with some vitamin e and lavender oil in it. It ( Read more... )

The guinea-pig phase on this one may be kinda long, since these are several years old for the most part and it might take a while to show results.

It'd be nice to try it on the scar on my hand. You know, the one I got being a stupid teenager? Yeah. Yeah, that one.

I think I could use some of that wound balm....I have some recent scarring that drives my significant other to distraction...

Let me know when you are ready to help selling this stuff, honey...I think I will be a loyal customer!!

(Just as a hint....Arnica is wonderful for putting in balms for bruising and skin dryness. It is a pain to get it strained, but it is so worth it, the stuff is MAGIC!!)

What sorts of scents does Lou like? It would be kinda tacky of me to send a wedding present only one bride likes. I also don't know your new address.

My lip balm has gotten nicer since the batch you got, I've figured out how keep the shae butter from being all grainy. I haven't been making many bath stuffs, since I can't bathe until my silly piercings get healed, but it's much easier than riding a bike, which I'm awful at.

There are so many herbs I need to get. At $50 an order every month or two, it'll take me a while to get them all...*sighs* I want my sexy dried plants! I guess I'll also need to find some better way to store them all. My mullein tastes funny, and I think it's because it sat next to the incense for a long time.

Argh! The ferret is eating a gummy bear! *runs*

Lou loves vanilla as much as I do!! I will email the address to you, if you will remind me of your email addy? (Goddess, I am hopeless....I can't keep my email addresses straight to save my soul....)

*nods* Storing herbs can be a problem....I found out that the best way was to use baby food jars. (Thanks for the reminder, need to ask my kids to save jars from the boys...) I had one cupboard that was full of nothing but baby food jars filled with every kind of herb I used on a regular basis. The ones I used infrequently, I would buy the day I needed them, had an herbalist right down the road from me. Lord, I REALLY need a big kitchen again so I can get back into my herbs....

Awesome. My email is mackaya-at-reed-dot-edu.

I tend to buy herbs in four ounce packets from this website, so maybe I should wash these spaghetti-sauce jars I keep saving well enough that they don't smell like spaghetti-sauce anymore and I can use them.

msbunburyist and I have been talking about putting together an herb garden in planter boxes when we move in May (have I posted about that?). Luckily, the herbs I really like are also the ones that grow like weeds and I won't be able to kill. Having fresh rosemary and mint would be amazing!

I'm not sure yet if I have to, like, file papers for that. If you want some lip balm or wound stuff or whatever, just let me know. I feel funny asking my friends for money, especially since the thing I go through the most of is shea butter, and I've only used maybe half a pound (US$5).

*cough* Um...wound stuff you say? I will trade you tasty things for things that are good for my increasingly abused skin.

I dunno if I have anything for bruises at the moment, but the stuff I gave Jess an Altoids tin of is great for cuts, abrasions, and other skin-broken-badness. I can make you your own, since Jess needs that stuff, given what she has to soak her hands in everyday.

Yeah, I bet it would be really nice for abrasions, since those are basically a million tiny cuts and might do nicely with some moisturizing.

Bruises are only one aspect of my concern. More directly are the scratches and such I get from the dogs at work and their love.
