Armistice Day

Before it was renamed and repurposed, this was Armistice Day. It was the day when all the carnage of WWI came to an official end, set aside originally to remind us all of the cost and horror of war, so that those fields would never again be fertilized by human blood and sacrifice ( Read more... )

first of all. you need a hankie warnng on this post

being the victim of an inferior education..... and having more or less educated myself by reading, i had missed, until last year, that this "Armistice Day" that was celebrated in Britain, was the same day and basically the origin of our Veterans Day.
