Like I said on my version of this.. it's "Congratulations BP, you didn't kill the planet.. you only killed an entire ocean and destroyed the lives of everyone living on the coast..."

Only in comparison to an Extinction Level Event is that an improvement..

Thanks for posting this Kestrel. The hysteria generated over this scenario reminded me of my Dad's reaction to a Discovery channel documentary on the possible effects of a large meteor strike on the earth. He was terrified that our destruction was immanent.

However, at this point in his life, Dad was suffering from vascular dementia and had lost the capacity to consider abstractions. To him, there was no such thing as "what if" any more.

Have you ever considered how much even the most mundane and unimaginative person relies on metaphor, simile and allusion in their every day communication?
It was a nightmare. And soooo sad.
