That's very interesting, and a great read.
I think you are onto something.
Myself, years ago, I grappled with this, in my own way. The conclusion I came up with, and I am not suggestion this to you, is for myself to silence my inner dialogue when people were speaking to me. All my life I always had this racing dialogue going on inside of me whenver someone was speaking, like I almost had to interupt them to get my thought out before I forgot it.
It always got me in a heap of trouble. Now I sit in silence when I listen to people talk. Its improved my listening skills.
I don't know why I share this, definitely not to tell you what to do. Its just reading this, this is what it triggered in me.

Internal dialog - I am becoming increasingly convinced - is not really a part of "you," rather it is a force that has been with you from the moment of first consciousness, and consequently you cannot tell the difference between it and yourself, because both seem to source from within. I have news for y'all - you put on a pair of stereo headphones and the sound seems to come from within...and obviously it is coming from somewhere else; the real source is removed in media, space, and even time from its current manifestation. I think this internal dialog has a similar external source.
