sense? i think that depends what you bring and how much you engage with it. pynchon, to me, is the most interactive author to live on dead trees. eat your heart out choose-your-own-adventures!
i can say that he is as funny and stylistically beautiful as ever. without a doubt.
my downfall has been the neal stephenson baroque cycle.
book 1, Quicksilver, 1000+ pages. six months book 2, The Confusion, 1000+ pages, eighteen months and counting book 3, System of the World, 1000+ pages, currently the stabilizing foundation of my to-read pile.
Although I'll admit I've been cheating and reading other stuff on the side. Nearly every time I've read Stephenson before, it's always been a chore to get into, but the payoff is worth it. If it doesn't come this time, I might have to write him off.
